Yes, we reached the finish line! Your bargaining team was once again in Ottawa from May 22 to 25 to meet with Treasury Board  to continue negotiations; this time, during the Ottawa Marathon week.

The 2019 SP Elections concluded on April 19th, 2018 at 5 pm (Ottawa Time).  The results for positions to serve as regional representatives on the SP National Executive following the tabulation of the electronic ballots are as follows:

Your bargaining team was in Ottawa during the week of April 8th to meet with the Employer, just on time to witness 10 cm of snow falling on the Capital on Tuesday. Well, winter hasn’t said its last word, apparently!

Your bargaining team has submitted the SP Group pay proposal to Treasury Board for a Science and Research Pay Adjustment for all classifications and levels in the SP Group, in addition to a general economic increase (negotiated at the central table).

What a nicer way to start our SP union year than with a meeting with the Employer! Your Bargaining Team aims for a quick deal by the summer, before the federal election period starts, though it will not at the expense of a fair deal for all of you. So, by meeting early, we are trying to dance in that direction. Will we have someone to tango with?

There are seven (7) SP National Executive regional pool positions to be filled by an election for a three-year term, to expire with the completion of regional pool elections in 2022. The positions are as follows:

According to our SP constitution, a member who wants to submit a by-law amendment or resolution at the 2019 AGM must send it in writing to the Executive.

PREAMBLE These By-Laws, in general, pertain to matters of Group organization not covered by the By-Laws and Regulations of The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada and are made pursuant to those By-Laws and Regulations.

As Treasury Board was not fully ready to discuss and negotiate your Group’s proposal and its offer, it was mutually agreed to cancel the December meeting and reconvene in the beginning of the new year (January 16 to 18, 2019).

Dear SP, In June, 2018, I attended my second SP Bargaining Conference. I find these to be the most interesting and engaging union meeting.

After the exchange of the non-monetary proposals last September, this was the first time your SP Bargaining Team met with the Employer Bargaining face to face. The meeting was held at the PIPSC office.

Your Bargaining Team members were digging through their Halloween loot and found a couple of goodies that were just too good to not share. The bargaining proposals that were exchanged electronically between the SP Group and Treasury Board on September 12, 2018!

Improving access to conferences is a consistent concern raised by SP members and your SP bargaining team needs to hear from you in order to document our position on this matter at the table!

Hello, SP Members! Just like parents are getting kids ready for school, the bargaining team spent the last days of August getting ready to start face-to-face bargaining with Treasury Board Secretariat in October.

An equity analysis of the SP Group’s collective agreement identified part-time members as potentially experiencing work- and union-related issues differently from full-time members. As a result, the bargaining team is seeking to get feedback from members who work part-time.

With our collective agreement expiring September 30, 2018, it is now time to bring the word “Bargaining” into our conversations. The Bargaining Team has met twice since the Bargaining Conference and wants to update you on our progress so far.
