Regions

Understanding the PIPSC structure

Regions

PIPSC is comprised of six geographical regions: Atlantic, Québec, Ontario and Nunavut, National Capital, Prairie/Northwest Territories and British Columbia/Yukon. Each region is structured to provide a minimum of three levels of organization consisting of: the Regional Council, the Regional Executive and Branches. The Regional Executive acts as a steering and administrative committee for the Regional Council and meets periodically between bi-yearly meetings. The objectives of the Regional Council are: to support the goals of PIPSC as they pertain to special concerns of the region; to present regional views at the AGM in the form of resolutions, or submit them to the Board of Directors and other decision-making bodies

Branches

Understanding the PIPSC structure

Branches

PIPSC is organized into geographic regions, which are further divided into local branches. A branch consists of 10 or more PIPSC members from two or more professional groups in a specific geographical area.

Groups

Understanding the PIPSC structure

Groups

Members belong to groups, which include all the members of the same bargaining unit. Each group operates under its own constitution which must be consistent with PIPSC by-laws. Members of the group elect their own executive. As a member, your voice counts and you're encouraged to participate in the activities of your Group.

Sub-groups

Membership dues

Every member contributes to the strength of PIPSC through dues. How they’re set: Delegates at our Annual General Meetings decide the flat-rate dues. The delegates, who are representatives from the various groups and regions within the union, vote on resolutions that propose changes to the dues structure. What they fund: Your dues support collective bargaining, workplace representation, training, and the work of PIPSC’s national and regional offices. By paying dues, you help protect your rights, strengthen your workplace, and ensure our union stays strong for all members.
