At the request of the AFS Group Elections Committee as per PIPSC By-Law 17.3.2.1, the PIPSC National Elections committee is conducting the 2024 AFS Group elections to the National AFS Group Executive.

The AFS Group is pleased to announce that our members have voted to accept the tentative agreement reached with CRA on September 16, 2023.   We anticipate signing our new collective agreement on December 14th, following management completing their ratification process.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Paul Skinner passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at age 68. Paul was surrounded by family including his wife Anna, and daughters Marena and Melanie.

We are sad to share that, after a courageous battle against cancer, Joel Reisman passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, surrounded by immediate family. Joel was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother.  Joel was also a beloved member of our union family.

From November 29 – December 1, we resumed negotiations with the employer for the renewal of our collective agreement. To make room to focus on the key priorities of our AFS members, we resolved over twenty editorial changes on the morning of our first day.

Your AFS Bargaining Team served notice to bargain with our employer on August 22nd, four months prior to the December 21st expiry of our collective agreement. This is the earliest date that we are allowed to do so under legislation.
