Audit, Financial and Scientific Group

Your AFS Executive members recently participated in a Positive Space Awareness LGBTQ2+ training session. The session was informative and an excellent opportunity to exchange thoughts on how we all support an open healthy work environment for everyone.

The Labour Board heard the PSTAR grievances, FPSLREB File Nos. 566.34.9832 & 9833 (Myles & Alcock), on October 2-5. During the hearing both PIPSC and the CRA presented all the evidence and we will make our final arguments in the near future. As soon as more information becomes available we will post it here on our website and we encourage you to visit in the coming weeks for updates on this matter.

Under the terms of the AFS Collective Agreement, the Agency has 150 days from the March 29, 2018 signing date for implementation. This 150 day period expired on August 26th.

The AFS Group served notice to bargain with the employer on August 22, 2018.

We have also agreed on our first bargaining dates, October 10 to 12, and November 6 to 8.

In preparation for bargaining, our AFS Bargaining Team reviewed unresolved bargaining demands from previous rounds; collective agreement settlements; issues brought to our attention by members; and published bargaining demands. AFS members were surveyed this spring for their bargaining concerns and our AFS subgroup presidents met in June to prioritize our bargaining demands.

YOUR AFS GROUP NEWSLETTER - Summer 2018

From the President …

I would personally like to thank all of our AFS stewards and members for their constant support through our last round of bargaining.  We are getting regular updates on the status of our new collective agreement’s implementation. The employer has indicated that they expect to meet their 150 day implementation deadline as of our August 22nd pay.
