The Labour Board (FPSLREB) scheduled hearing dates in these matters on October 2-5, 2018 in Toronto. The Board should assign a specific location in Toronto shortly. AFS Group Executive Elections: The Results
The Elections Committee has verified the results for election to the position of President of the AFS Group Executive. The following candidate was successful (name underlined) and will take office commencing July 1, 2018:

March 26, 2018 AFS Executive Meeting
Present: Doug Mason (President). Regional Representatives: Chris Roach (Vice-President and Atlantic Regional Representative), Shawn Gillis (Ontario and Treasurer), Mark Muench (CS National Consultation Representative), Phil Choo (BC / Yukon), Manny Costain (CS Regional Representative and Secretary), Robert Trudeau (Prairies/NWT), Brian Hassall (HQ), Allaudin Alibhai (NCR IT), and Al Ravjiani (Toronto).
Recent announcements about the possible transfer of workload from CRA to Revenu Québec have created an atmosphere of uncertainty for many of our dedicated AFS members.
We are proud of our AFS members who have the knowledge and experience to address international, scientific research and development, tax avoidance and other complex tax matters.
It has come to our attention that CRA is not crediting employees for their vacation or sick leave earned while on LIA. This is occurring in spite of the fact that our AFS collective agreement provides for the earning of vacation and sick leave while on LIA.
To earn sick leave in a given month, an employee must “receive pay for at least seventy-five (75) hours.” Similarly, to earn the vacation leave accumulation, an employee must “receive pay on at least ten (10) days or seventy-five (75) hours.” Employees do receive pay while on LIA.
There is one (1) vacancy on the AFS Group executive. The successful candidate will take Office on July 1, 2018.
Following the close of nominations on April 18, 2018 the following members expressed their willingness to serve as President on the AFS Group Executive.
