Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the union movement, specifically the eight hour work day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. I would personally like to thank all of our AFS stewards and members for their constant support through our last round of bargaining. We are getting regular updates on the status of our new collective agreement’s implementation. The employer has indicated that they expect to meet their 150 day implementation deadline as of our August 22nd pay.

Dear Members:
On June 2, 2018, the Treasury Board published the new definition of the Information Technology (IT) Occupational Group, replacing the current definition of the Computer Systems (CS) Group, in the Canada Gazette.
There will be no immediate impact on CS Group employees. Employees will soon receive a notice from the departments and an information package with questions and answers.
