Candidate for Vice-President (Part-Time)

Yvon Brodeur

(Retired member)

It is with enthusiasm and determination that, in response to calls by several members, I am standing for the position of Part-Time Vice-President.

In all the roles I’ve held, including Regional Director, Group President (AV/CP), Negotiator, and recently Regional Representative for the RMG (Retired Members Guild), I’ve taken it to heart to promote your needs and rights and to move issues forward.

I have a lot of experience, expertise and positive contributions (FTQ membership in 2015, peer training program, Youth Committee, etc.). Moreover, I previously held the position of Acting Vice-President in 2014. Once again, I pledge to work closely with you, to listen to your needs and to defend your professional, social and financial interests. Rest assured that I’m ready to meet both current and future challenges facing our members and the Institute.

  • Affiliate member of the FTQ General Council (2015 to 2021)
  • Founder and Chair of the Task Force on Official Languages (2016 to 2023)

  • Union steward (1992 to 2012)

I SUGGEST:

  • Ensuring that the Board controls Institute spending to avoid deficits, increased membership dues and other impacts
  • Recruiting the next generation, engaging members and offering new training courses by the Institute and peers to meet their needs (e.g. “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”)
  • Promoting our services to members and developing new ones as needed
  • Negotiating win-win conditions for members
    • Telework, psychosocial issues, burnout
    • Violence and harassment in the workplace (awareness campaigns, etc.)
    • Respecting and defending your working conditions (sick leave, wages, stopping subcontracting, fairness, professional integrity)
  • Promoting our members’ work
  • Working closely with our union partners (CLC, FTQ, PSAC)

Your support for my nomination will enable me to achieve these objectives and any other you may submit to me. I am deeply grateful to you.
