December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. They died because they were women.

The three parties met November 28, 29, and 30, 2017 in Winnipeg, MB and are scheduled to meet again in Beauséjour, MB on January 9, 10 and 11, 2018. Additional tentative dates are scheduled for late January and February, 2018.

As you are aware, your Bargaining Team worked diligently to reach a Tentative Agreement in renewal of your Collective Agreement on June 9, 2017. This Tentative Agreement was then ratified by the membership in July.

After a very long wait the CFIA-IN Bargaining Team met for the first time with the employer on November 21, 22 & 23 2017. Proposals were exchanged early on the 21st.

PIPSC is applauding a decision by the federal government to put the transfer of RCMP civilian employees to the Phoenix pay system “indefinitely” on hold.
