Candidate for Vice-President (Full-Time)

Andrew Wigmore

(Regular member)

I am running for Vice President – Full Time of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada. As a bilingual young professional and former Steward of the Year with nearly two decades of dedicated service in the public sector and a proven track record of effective leadership within PIPSC, I am eager to continue serving and advocating for worker rights.

My PIPSC journey began in 2013, I was Work Force Adjusted and had received virtually no support from my union.  I wanted to make a difference.  Since then, I have held and assisted at many events that brought members together to learn and network with their fellow union peers. I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities:

  • Steward (2013-Present)
  • President of ATSSC Consultation (2023-Present)
  • Advisory Council ATSSC (2023-Present)
  • Young Professionals Network Chair (2017-2022)
  • NCR Executive Member (2017-2024)
  • OCB Executive Member (2016-Present)
  • CP Group Executive (2016-2018)
  • CP Ottawa Sub-Group (2014-Present)
  • Professional Recognition and Qualifications Committee Member (2024-Present)
  • CLC Young Workers Advisory Committee (2017-Present)
  • Acting Regional Director – PIPSC Board of Directors (2023)

I accomplished this while working two jobs and maintaining a work-life balance.  These roles have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face and the opportunities we can seize together.

My primary focus will be on advancing our core mission: to protect and promote the interests of public service professionals. I will work tirelessly to ensure that members receive the best service, compensation and job security.  I will advocate for more rights to work in a respectful, safe and professional work environment. My experience has taught me the importance of leadership, strategic thinking, patience, and collaboration, all of which I will bring to the role of Vice President.

My key priorities will be RTO and enhancing member engagement and communication. I believe that a strong, united membership is the foundation of our strength.  I am committed to fostering a culture of transparency and inclusivity, where every member feels heard and valued. By leveraging modern communication tools and platforms, I will ensure you are informed and involved in our collective efforts.  I will strive to collaborate with other unions where necessary to achieve better solidarity and gains for our members.

I am committed to working diligently, advocating for your rights, and building a better union. I humbly request your support and your vote. Together, we can achieve great things.

Yours in Solidarity,

Andrew Wigmore
