Candidate for Québec Regional Director – Benoit Pelletier

Hello members of the Québec Region,

My name is Benoit Pelletier.

As a member-at-large and steward at PIPSC for over 15 years, I am proud to submit my nomination for the position of Québec Regional Director.

Over the years, I have held several positions: 

• Member of the Finance Committee (one of the Board committees) as representative of the Québec Region (2016-2021)
• Member of the Québec Region Executive (2012-2021) and Training Committee (2016-2021), and Trainer (2016-2021, 2024)
• President, Quebec East Branch (2009-2022)
• President (2012-2017) and member of the Rimouski AFS Sub-Group Executive (2008-2022)

Still active in the federal public service with over 30 years of service, I worked mainly for the Canada Revenue Agency. I also held a position with Canada Economic Development through the Interchange Canada program.

In 2021, I completed training courses that will help me in my role as Director. Among other things, I trained as a Third-Party Neutral from the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution, which led me to develop new listening skills and volunteer with Equijustice de l’Est as a Citizen Mediator. I also became an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner.

With this background and my extensive experience, I feel I am well equipped to complete this future term. I want to contribute to the organization and the members.

In this upcoming turbulent period, we need to refocus on good management of resources and on the main objective of a union: its members. My first question in support of any action will be to check what the benefit will be for the member and for the organization.

I suggest a different approach, a relational approach, centred on reflection, discussion, and the member. This approach provides a different perspective on an issue or conflict. Understanding where the other person is coming from is essential to finding a mutually acceptable way of converging towards a common interest.  It’s by thinking outside the box that we’ll be able to do things differently.

I’m a problem solver and a strong believer in teamwork. Our actions must not serve our own interests, but those of our members and the Institute. Together, we can achieve great things.

You have placed your trust in me on several occasions and at different levels. I am grateful to you.

I am committed to working with the Regional Executive to represent your interests at the national level. I still have a lot to contribute to the Institute, and to the Québec Region.

For all these reasons, I humbly ask you to vote for me.
