GENERAL GUIDELINES
Liaise with Regional Directors to review the role and effectiveness of Regional Councils, having particular regard to the areas for review identified below .
Document feedback from Regional Directors and others with regard to their experiences, success stories and suggestions related to Regional Councils.
Produce a work plan with deliverables, milestones and time lines for completion of the work identified below.
Submit progress reports to VP Hindle on a bi-monthly basis.
Submit a final report to VP Hindle by December 1, 2017.
AREAS FOR REVIEW
- Review By-Laws, regulations and other foundational documents related to Regional Councils to determine if activities are consistent with the generally understood intent of the foundational documents.
- Review the Policy on Institute Regions to determine options for amendments, if required. In collaboration with Regional Directors, propose an overarching statement for the policy relating to the purpose of Regional Councils.
- Review the format of Regional Councils to determine areas of consistency and difference.
- Review the content of Regional Councils to identify areas of common interest and areas where Councils reflect the diversity of regions.
- Identify the types of training sessions conducted at Regional Councils.
- Review the by-law calculation for number of Regional Council delegates and document feedback from Regional Directors as to the effectiveness of this calculation.
- Review regional practices related to the selection of delegates and identify best practices related to delegate selection.
- Identify opportunities for advancing the strategic objectives of the Institute through the work of Regional Councils.
- Review the overall effectiveness of Regional Councils as a vehicle to enhance governance and engagement within and across regions.
