Executive Meeting on October 28, 2021 (8th of the year)
In-person meeting at Manoir des Sables
Start of the meeting: 8:30 a.m.
In attendance: Yvon Brodeur, Denis Caissy, Hugo Landry, Nancy Lavoie, Steve Malenfant, Réjean Michaud, Lisanne Racine, Karine Régimbald and Gerlando Renna.
Absent: Jean Couillard and Stéphanie Fréchette.
- Opening Remarks:
Yvon welcomed everyone and will chair the meeting.
- Approval of the Agenda:
No items were added to the agenda.
Nancy moved to approve, and Denis seconded.
The agenda was approved unanimously; Other Business items can still be added.
- Approval of the Minutes of October 8, 2021:
The minutes of October 8, 2021 were not completed at the time of the meeting, so they will be approved at the next meeting.
- Business Arising from the Minutes of October 8, 2021:
a) Deferred to the next meeting.
- Steward Council (SC) 2021 – Follow-up:
Yvon reviewed the agenda that Anne had submitted to us prior to the meeting.
Each item was reviewed, and a designated person was assigned to handle it.
A reminder about health measures was added to the agenda.
Although there will be no simultaneous translation (as there is no request for it), an LMB employee will be present for those who wish to have headphones. Everything will take place in the large Champêtre room.
- Scholarships:
Two scholarships will be awarded this year to two students from Quebec, namely: Katrina Dufour Doherty, daughter of James Doherty, an engineer at the Canadian Space Agency, and Linda Yiming Song, daughter of Naiheng Song, a research officer at the NRC. Linda Yiming Song will be present at our official SC dinner on Friday evening to receive her award.
- Tree Canada (October 8, 2021):
The tree planting activity at the CHUL in Quebec City was a success. Thirteen trees were planted, in addition to 130 shrubs and 80 herbaceous plants. A big thanks to all who participated in this event.
- Non-perishable Food Items (Memphremagog Food Bank):
A collection of non-perishable food items will be made during the registration of Stewards on Friday morning to benefit an organization in the Magog region. In addition, during the SC, we will ask those present to donate the complimentary personal hygiene products from their hotel room to benefit a shelter for women victims of violence.
- AGM Attendees (November 5 and 6, 2021) – Update:
Allison McAleer will send us an update on the Quebec Region’s attendance at the National AGM, following her reminder to find out whether or not people will be attending. In addition, we will be holding a pre-AGM meeting on Thursday, November 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., to share the Executive’s recommendations to Quebec Region members on the resolutions presented.
10. Participation at PIPSC AGM (FTQ Locals):
Yvon will rent a room at the Québec FTQ section so that members from the Quebec City area can attend the AGM together.
11. PIPSC Elections – Update:
Hugo reported that there have been some problems emailing voting keys to members, as well as distributing some candidate videos.
12. Other Business:
a) None.

a) No specific comments were added at the meeting.
b) In the time left, we decided on the recommendations for our Québec Region members who will be attending this year’s AGM:

14) Date of Next Meeting:
The next Executive meeting will be held on Friday, December 17, following our traditional holiday dinner with the Montreal Regional Office staff.
