We are pleased to invite you to attend the upcoming BC/Yukon Steward / Better Together Sessions scheduled via Zoom. With the cancellations of both Regional and Steward Councils in 2020, these sessions were designed to provide online elements of these events for our Stewards and members.

All stewards in the BC/Yukon Region are invited to attend. In addition, each Branch is welcome to nominate non-steward delegates to attend, based on their Regional Council delegate allocations.

We truly hope these virtual sessions will provide valuable training and information to both our stewards and active members. Presentations are being planned to assist you in further developing your skills as a steward/volunteer and promote discussion concerning current issues. 

The draft agenda is as follows:

• Tuesday, October 20, 2020
  • 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Introductions & Keynote - How to Engage in the Virtual World – Roger Haskett, Engagement Unlimited
  • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Navigating COVID & PIPSC Responses – Kris Hawkins, Regional Manager, BC/Yukon Region and ERO Panel
•  Thursday, October 22, 2020
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Fireside Chat with the President – President Debi Daviau
  • 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Consultation Team Caucus Meetings – Hosted by Consultation Team Presidents/Representatives (see list below of available caucus meetings)
• Thursday, October 29, 2020
  • 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Group Caucus Meetings – Hosted by Group Presidents/Regional Representative (see list below of available caucus meetings)
  • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Keynote – The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership - Christina Nikiforuk, Liberate Leadership

If you are a steward you will receive an email with a link to register online.

Names of Non-steward Branch Delegates, based on the Regional Council allocation (see below) should be submitted by Branch Presidents to the Regional Office (Shira Gordon: sgordon@pipsc.ca) no later than Thursday, October 15, 2020.  Delegates will then be provided with a link for their online registration no later than Friday, October 16, 2020. 

Registration will not be accepted by telephone.

COMPENSATION FOR LEAVE

Compensation for leave will be provided to Stewards and Branch Delegates only for those sessions they are able to attend. 

Salary compensation will be limited to a total of 7.5 hours, except in the case of shift workers who will be reimbursed for appropriate shifts missed due to their attendance at the Virtual Steward / Better Together Sessions (to a maximum of two shifts). 

Institute policy allows for compensating participants who use vacation leave, compensatory leave, union leave with pay (where applicable), or union leave without pay for attendance at the BC/Yukon Virtual Steward / Better Together Sessions. You will be provided with a Union Leave With Pay Authorization Form upon registration.
