Katy Windl: A Proven Leader Committed to Transparent and Inclusive Union Leadership
With a robust background as a Pharmacist with Indigenous Services Canada since 2016 and 15 years of service as both a Non-Commissioned Member and Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, I bring a wealth of experience and dedication to leadership. My tenure in the military has ingrained in me the values of teamwork, discipline, and mission-focused strategy, which I have carried forward and developed further in my professional career.
In my previous role as the Regional Pharmacist in Saskatchewan, I served as a liaison between multiple layers of government to support reconciliation calls-to-action and health equity in First Nations communities. For this work, I was honoured with the Assistant Deputy Minister Award for Excellence in 2020.
As an active Steward within Indigenous Services Canada, I have developed extensive experience in conflict resolution, effectively mediating disputes to find solutions that benefit all parties involved. I prioritize listening to members to understand their needs while applying collective agreements to achieve favourable outcomes in grievances. Additionally, I represent Saskatchewan on local and national consultation teams, advocating for our members' interests at multiple levels.
As the Regina Branch President from 2022-2024, I have witnessed the critical need for inclusive leadership that is transparent and fair. The current state of our union is concerning. It is imperative that our union shifts its focus back to the members and prioritizes their voices and needs.
Why I’m Running:
- Transparency: I will advocate for clear, open communication and accountability at every level of our union.
- Fairness: My goal is to ensure that every member has a fair say in the decisions that affect us all.
- Inclusivity: I am committed to creating a union where every member feels valued and heard.
What I Offer:
- Proven Leadership: Experience in high-stakes environments with a focus on mission success and team cohesion.
- Dedicated Service: A track record of serving with integrity and a deep understanding of the needs of our members.
- Strategic Vision: A commitment to addressing current challenges with effective, member-centered solutions.
- Hands-On Experience: Practical experience in conflict resolution, grievance management, and active representation at both local and national levels.
Let’s work together to build a union that truly represents its members. With your support, we can create a transparent, fair, and inclusive environment where every voice matters.
