The employer’s arbitrary and haphazard return to office (RTO) mandates have caused many of  us unnecessary hardship.

The AFS Group has taken several steps to challenge management’s actions; so far, we have:

  • filed a policy grievance and an unfair labour practice complaint
  • held rallies across the country
  • passed a unanimous motion of non-confidence in CRA’s Commissioner, Bob Hamilton
  • Informed the Minister of National Revenue, Marie-Claude Bibeau, of the non-confidence motion, but we have not received a response

We are now encouraging all our AFS members to file individual grievances as a pressure tactic for the employer. If you have been arbitrarily told to increase your in-office time or if your Work Agreement Arrangement is, or will be, altered due to the RTO Directive, then we encourage you to file a grievance.

The AFS Executive has developed and shared standard individual grievance wording with our local AFS Sub-Group presidents, who will share this information with all local stewards.

Our AFS stewards will assist you in filing your grievances and support you in their presentation to management.

It is important that levels are not skipped so you can share your concerns with management directly. They need to understand how CRA’s RTO mandates impact you.

We encourage you to contact your local AFS Sub-Group President to help file your grievance or answer your questions.

In solidarity,

Doug Mason
