CHECK-INS AND VIRTUAL SESSIONS
With the suspension of in-person meetings, the Atlantic Region will continue to offer sessions to provide online opportunities for you to further develop your skills and network with fellow Stewards, Regional Executive and staff.
Watch your inbox as you will receive CVENT email invitations containing links to register for the events below. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email containing the link for the ZOOM check-in.
1. NEW STEWARD CHECK-IN
This check-in will be specifically for Stewards waiting for Basic training and Stewards who have taken Basic training within the last two years. The absence of in-person gatherings has made opportunities for networking and informal mentoring difficult. Join your Atlantic Regional Executive and the three Employment Relations Officers for an opportunity to ask questions and receive updates on current union issues.

2. STEWARD CHECK-INS
These are challenging times and as PIPSC Stewards you continue to provide service and support to our members in the Atlantic Region. These check-ins will be an opportunity to receive the latest updates from PIPSC and to connect with your fellow Stewards, Regional Executive and Employment Relations Officers.

3. ADVANCED GRIEVANCE SKILLS
Join Max Way, Employment Relations Officer, for this grievance skills workshop. Using case scenarios in breakout groups, participants will work on improving their techniques when preparing for and representing members in the grievance process.
This session will be open to members who have been Stewards for two years or more. Two sessions are offered and space will be limited to 20 participants per session. There will be an opportunity to express your interest in attending and then applicants will be screened.

4. ADVANCED REPRESENTING MEMBERS AT DISCIPLINE HEARINGS
Paul Hartigan will facilitate an advanced discipline session intended to highlight the role stewards play in the discipline process. Paul will review various management actions and identify which are disciplinary and non-disciplinary, employer standards of discipline policies and how they matter, preparing members for pre-disciplinary and disciplinary meetings, the key differences in representation at a discipline vs a grievance meeting, review factors that can mitigate or eliminate the employer's ability to discipline and discuss next steps a steward should consider after discipline has been imposed.
