Review of Action Items
Debrief of Member Event
- Erika to post questions on the share drive. -Completed
- ACTION: Brooke to send questions to members.- Bring Forward
- ACTION: Brooke to create/bring cheatsheet/info regarding sub-groups and branches to youth events. - Bring forward

Swag Ideas
Items that can be given out at local AYPC members locations.
- Christine to look at pricing for above items. - Completed.
YPN Committee of the Board Update
- The July 27th, 2024 meeting was postponed. Working with Dave Sutherland to get meeting rescheduled.
- The committees is currently working on terms of reference, and once completed will working on finance/budgeting.
- Once some movement on the terms of reference, Christine will send to the AYPC for input.
- The next meeting will be in conjunction with advisory council.
Steward Council
- Meeting
- Meeting will be at the Lord Nelson in Halifax, On October 25th and 26th.
- The AYPC meeting will be 9am on October 25th, 2024. Council will start at 1pm that day, and run 9am to 5pm on the 26th.

Member engagement event
- Idea is Durty Nellys, 5 to 7pm on Thursday, October 24th, 2024.
- Will order apps for the group and 2 drink tickets per member.
- Will open event to other youth members attending steward council who will be arriving on Thursday,
- ACTION: Erika to book Durty Nelly’s for October 24th.
- ACTION: Christine to inquire with the executive members if they would like to join in event before the director’s dinner.
- ACTION: Christine to look at pricing for shirts with the AYPC logo to wear at events.
Other Engagement Ideas
- Virtual Events
- PIPSC 101 or understanding your collective agreement.
- Consider giving gift cards or door prizes for those who attend.
- Consider doing in Fall/November.
- Did previously do Thirsty Thursday and did not have great success but will try again.

Events in each province outside of the meetings
- We can alternate between provinces outside of Steward Council and ARC.
- Do events or prizes, or etc. with branch events.
- Attach to a existing branch event or do independently.

Any other suggestions?
- Feel it is important for members to understand the structure of the union (diagram in PIPSC 101)
- When people show up to events ask what they may want info on.
- Some relevant topics: Safety over return to office, accommodations (ERO would be needed), understanding your collective agreement.
- Timeframe thinking of is between November 18th to 22nd, evening 7pm Atlantic time. Do in English and offer in French if there is demand.
- Offer a chance for a door prize, or if not many attend everyone gets something
- ACTION: Christine seek approval for independent event and door prizes
- ** if wanting door prizes for branch events send Christine an independent email.
Newsletter Articles
- Fall Newsletter topic and author
- Topics: return to office, impacts on family and lifestyle.
- April will write article.
- Will become an ACTION item in October meeting as deadline is in November.
Swag Ideas
- Items that can be given out at local AYPC members locations.
- Potential items: stress balls (lighthouse shaped), little first aid kits, stocking hats, luggage tags, travel chord organizer, travel sewing kit, little tattoos, pop it keychains.
- Order will be place with Textile in Truro, NS.
- Will order additional T-shirts (ones getting for committee members) to give out as door prizes at events.
- ACTION: Christine to get quote on these swag items and share with committee.
Succession Planning
- creating documentation
- Including terms of reference
- How to select the chair & secretary
- How to get notices approved.
- Events need to be approved/what to do when hosting
- How often to have meetings
- How to get reimbursements
- By-laws and policies to follow
- Liaisoning with executive
Hot Topics
- Virtual Meetings in between scheduled meetings
- Host virtual meetings in between in-person to review action items.
- Do 1 or 2 virtual meetings via Zoom ( after work hours as no salary reimbursement).
- ACTION: Christine to inform the executive the committees decision to have the virtual meetings.

Family event this weekend
- Weather did not look good for a zoo event.
- Consider other options: trampoline park, bowling, movies, hop skip jump.
- Decided on trampoline park and seeked approval from the director.
Round Table
- Worked on pamphlet to disburse at events
- Cover page have logo with title “info package”
- 2nd page committee mandate
- 3rd flow chart with PIPSC structure
- 4th where to find collective agreements
- 5th the atlantic regional executive
- 6th how to find a steward, contacts and resources
- Additional ideas to add:
- Version with hyperlink and paper version
- QR code for the paper copy (on back)
- Have a copy in google docs for our review
- Virtual copy will go on PIPSC website
- Will have to be in both official languages and will need to be translated
- There is a RAND cheat sheet available on the PIPSC website for an example
- No additional Round Table items
