The NUREG bargaining team has formally served the Employer with our Notice to Bargain on February 26.
After careful consideration, the Bargaining Team has decided to proceed using the Conciliation/Strike route.
What does the Conciliation/Strike route mean?
This route does not mean that a strike is imminent or predetermined. Rather, it is a strategic choice that:
- preserves the right to strike as a last resort, should negotiations reach an impasse
- provides the Bargaining Team with greater leverage at the table
- ensures that members – not the Employer – retain control over key decisions
- requires a strike mandate vote by the membership before any strike action could occur
At every stage, no strike can take place without your direct approval. This approach ensures transparency, accountability, and member-driven decision-making throughout the bargaining process.
It is important to underscore that the nuclear industry is a top priority for the federal government, particularly with the significant influx of funding and renewed national focus on nuclear safety, regulation, and innovation. This context strengthens our position – but only if we remain informed, engaged, and united.
How to support your Bargaining Team
The success of this round of bargaining depends on the full support and active participation of the membership. We strongly encourage you to:
- attend one of the upcoming NUREG Bargaining 101 sessions, where we will walk through the bargaining process, timelines, and what this route means for you
- join the private NUREG Facebook Page, which will be used to share updates, engagement opportunities, and important bargaining information
As a Bargaining Team, we are deliberately placing decision-making power in your hands. Your participation, voice, and solidarity will determine the strength of our collective position.
We need your support now more than ever.
In solidarity,
The NUREG Bargaining Team, PIPSC
