The Information Technology (IT) Group Executive is seeking nominations for the following positions:

  • President – 3-year term
  • Member-at-large – 5 positions for 3-year terms

The nomination and Election process is governed by our IT Constitution and Group bylaws:

4.3 Elections:

4.3.1 The election will be held prior to the Group AGM.

4.3.2 The elected candidates take office the first business day after the AGM.

4.3.3 Any member of the Elections Committee who becomes a candidate in the election shall resign from the Elections Committee.

4.3.4 No member shall be a candidate for more than one position in the same election.
4.3.5 A candidate for election may only broadcast to the members to campaign via email one time during the election period.

4.3.6 A candidate for election may provide a photograph of themselves with their biography for posting on the election page.

4.3.7 The IT Group Elections Committee will hold a virtual candidate meeting, if positions are contested, to allow members the opportunity to meet candidates. The Elections Committee will determine the format of the candidate’s meetings.

Here is a summary of the process:

  • nominations must be supported by at least 3 regular IT Group members
  • the Elections Committee will review the nominations to make sure nominees are eligible
  • if necessary, the Elections Committee will hold a vote

As a member of the group executive, your role is to:

  • further the professional interests of the members
  • protect the status and standards of our profession
  • represent the views of the members on matters affecting them
  • ensure that the interests of the Group are represented in all proceedings of the employer and of the union

Elected executive members may be selected as members of the IT Bargaining team.

The IT Group is looking for candidates who have significant previous union experience and a good working knowledge of the IT Collective Agreement and PIPSC.

Elected officials will be required to:

  • assume Officer portfolios
  • attend sub-group Annual General Meetings (AGMs) in their region
  • attend the IT Group and PIPSC AGMs, as well as the sub-group President’s Meeting
  • this is a voluntary role with an approximate monthly commitment of a minimum of 20 hours. The executive meets in person approximately 6 times per year (travel may be required)
  • and meet approximately every 2 weeks via Zoom (meetings may take place on weekdays, weekends, and evenings)

These are volunteer positions requiring a commitment to perform duties both at times during and outside of your normal public service work hours.

There will be a virtual All Candidates Townhall on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET.
