Little time has passed since we updated you on the last round of bargaining, but here we are in bargaining mode again. This is an update on where we’re at in the process.
Your current collective agreement will expire on December 21, 2021.
The CS Group executive hosted a bargaining proposals meeting on June 1, 3, 9, and 11 in preparation for this event. Participants came from a selection of applicants across the country. Over 4 half-day virtual meetings, we discussed our achievements from the last round of bargaining, updated our current language, and drafted new proposals.
We also had the opportunity to review the results of the CS Group bargaining survey that was conducted in May. We would like to thank everyone who completed the survey. It will be used to build a foundation for the new bargaining priorities.
The bargaining team has also been appointed, and in-depth training on the bargaining process will occur before the end of the year.
Over the next few months, the bargaining team and group executive will meet to continue the work on the proposals that came out of the proposals meeting.
We will dive deeper into the survey results, which will inform our proposal language. It’s clear that an equitable market adjustment is a top priority of members. As required, we will provide a “notice to bargain” to the employer before the expiration date of our current contract. We will also select the dispute resolution mechanism to use if we don’t get a tentative agreement at the bargaining table.
Your continued support is critical in demonstrating to the employer that your collective agreement is something that you value.
The CS Group executive, bargaining team and national organizing committee will continue and further increase our efforts from the last round of bargaining by mobilizing members and engaging Canadians about the importance of keeping our work within the public sphere – and not under the control of the private sector. Your work is in the public interest and must not be for private profit.
