Your ongoing efforts to fix the broken job descriptions are showing results.
Many of you will have participated in the 2016 grievance campaign that pushed the employer to sign the 2018 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
This MOA obligates the employer to review the work descriptions of the New Regulatory Science (SR) professional group. Both parties have agreed to an independent arbitrator and we expect to have the new work descriptions by December 31, 2019.
You know that in the past, 2014 and 2015, our efforts were not successful. That’s why this time we’re going into it with everything we’ve got.
From now until December we will focus all of our resources into the job description review. This means current SR classification and job content grievances are now on hold, protected, and will be addressed after the completion of the process outlined in the 2018 MOA. It means, we have hired an experienced job classification and design consultant to put us in the strongest position possible. It means, we all need to pull together to get a positive result this time around.
To begin, we’ll need many of you to complete an online survey to ensure we have update information on all of the 27 SR role descriptors. This data will be used to build job description and evaluation systems that reflects what SRs do each day. Members will be randomly approached to complete the survey.
Our last meeting of the Joint Consultation Committee (JCC) took place June 3rd and we began the review process. We will continue to keep you informed as this work moves forward.
