Delegates to the 2019 AFS Group Annual General Meeting
WELCOME
TO: Delegates to the 2019 AFS Group Annual General Meeting
FROM: Doug Mason, AFS President
I am pleased to welcome you as a delegate to the 2019 AFS Group Annual General Meeting.
The AGM is the "supreme governing body" of the AFS Group, in accordance with Group By-Law 6.1. The 60 delegates to this AGM were selected from the different regions, based on the member population in each region. These delegates and 11 members of the Group Executive comprise the 71 delegates to the AGM.
The AGM is a discussion forum where decisions are made in terms of proposed resolutions regarding all AFS Group activities, our By-Laws and all issues to be forwarded to the Institute AGM.
This meeting is also the occasion to discuss, and for the AFS Executive to report on, various committee activities and allow you to share your members' concerns and interests. To better represent your members, you are encouraged to consult your colleagues prior to attending.
Resolutions for discussion at the AGM have to be submitted in writing at the AGM and sent to translation before 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019. These resolutions will be discussed, time allowing, under the heading "Others" in our Agenda. USB keys containing the relevant AFS AGM materials will be provided on site.
This is your AGM; make it work for you and the members you represent. To fully participate and make the meeting productive, I urge you to read the virtual binder material prior to the AGM. Also, please review and abide by the Rules of Procedure to ensure that the meeting is effective for all delegates.
Please book your travel arrangements as soon as possible and you may register to the AGM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 8 to 9 AM in the Assiniboia room lobby.
I look forward to your participation as a delegate to our 2019 AFS AGM.
In Solidarity / Better Together,
Doug
