To all Members of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) at Environment & Climate Change Canada:

Dear colleagues,

We are facing an unprecedented situation, and have been adjusting to it. Your safety, the safety of your family and the safety of all Canadians are our most important priorities.

With physical distancing measures in place during COVID-19, many employees working from home have also taken on new or additional caregiving responsibilities. Be it looking after children who cannot go to school or daycare, elderly family members and/or loved ones with disabilities or illness. Caregiving while physical distancing means less access to external services and more responsibilities for the caregiver. Balancing remote working and caring for another person is by no means easy.

It is, therefore, very important that you take full advantage of the existing provisions of your Collective Agreements, and the additional flexibility and support that are made available to employees. This includes the use of Leave With Pay, Code 699, and new flexibilities provided by the Public Service Healthcare Plan.

The new Collective Agreements for the following Groups have been posted at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) website and electronic copies can be accessed at the links provided:
