The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada

Your bargaining team participated in the second session of negotiations with CNL on February 13 through February 15. During this very collaborative session the parties continued the work on the non-monetary improvements to your collective agreement.

Your team presented and responded to proposals, among others, on:

  • Remote work
  • The issue of WPEG members having to supervise contractors
  • Discussion on the rights of WPEG members under the Engineering Act, stamping of drawings and certificates of authorization.

Your team and the employer agreed to:

  • Protecting WPEG positions in the presence of contractors and job postings
  • Regular meetings to report on contract personnel
  • Clarifying member’s right to take breaks
  • Protections for continuing employees who take a term position.

Monetary proposals, which include your pay increases, will be presented at a later date. To prepare the monetary proposal, the team will rely on PIPSC’s research staff and chief economist who are collecting data, including cost of living increases and salary comparators with similar classifications and private sector positions.

Future bargaining dates are scheduled for April and June 2023. Should you have any questions, concerns or issues you would like your Team to bring up during the negotiations, please email them to WPEG_questions@pipsc.ca.

Pension

Your PIPSC pension representatives will be meeting with CNL HR to discuss the implementation of the CAAT Pension Plan. It is expected that CNL will approve the participation agreement as discussed at the CNL board meeting of Feb 21, 2023.

In solidarity,

Your WPEG bargaining team: Jonathan Fitzpatrick, Jason Martino, Curtis Faucher, Saju Sam
