The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada

Your PIPSC WFCC RT Bargaining Team is pleased to share the details of the tentative agreement reached with the hospital with regards to the Bill 124 and Pandemic Pay reopeners.

Your bargaining team was successful in securing additional pay increases,  which will provide higher wages for all members on an ongoing basis.

Rates of Pay (Bill 124 Adjustment, in addition to existing 1.0% increase each year)

Effective October 1, 2019 – Additional increase to rates of pay: 0.75%

Effective October 1, 2020 – Additional increase to rates of pay: 0.75%

Effective October 1, 2021 – Additional increase to rates of pay: 1.75%

One-Time Lump Sum Payment

The Employer will provide a one-time lump-sum payment to full-time, part-time and casual employees who were employed and part of the PIPSC RT bargaining unit as of August 13, 2020 and who remain employed with the hospital and part of the bargaining unit as of the date the settlement agreement is signed, as follows: $800 for full-time, $560 for part-time and $240 for casuals based on their employment status on the date the settlement agreement is signed.

Employees who received payments under any government’s temporary incentive pay program are not eligible to receive the one-time lump sum payment.

Bill 124 Appeal

In the event that Bill 124 (Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act, 2019) appeal is allowed or a stay is granted at either the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court of Canada, the Parties agree to meet to discuss its impact on these Minutes of Settlement. If the Parties cannot agree on its impact, they shall engage an Arbitrator to determine the matter.

Voting instructions will be sent by email on March 4, and voting will close at noon on March 6.  Please ensure your membership information is up to date in order to vote.

Your PIPSC WFCC-RT Bargaining Team unanimously recommends the acceptance of this tentative agreement. As other groups in the sector have been successful in securing higher wage increases in 2022 and beyond, this agreement sets a firm foundation for negotiation of the new collective agreement, which will be effective from October 1, 2022.

In solidarity,

Your WFCC RT Bargaining Team, PIPSC
