Good Day all,

This is a resend of a previous note over concerns that we were not reaching out to everyone within our Sub-Group.

My name is Dave Rutherford and I am currently standing as the local PIPSC NR Sub Group President for the Halifax area. The purpose of this note is to invite you all to our Sub Group Annual General Meeting to be held on 9 May 2018, 4:30 – 7:00 PM at the Old Triangle Pub in downtown Halifax. We have reserved the Seanchai (For the Non Irish - pronounced Shawn-a-key) room on the second level for our event.  Check out the link for menu and location.

As part of our Annual General Meeting this year, you will have the opportunity to get the latest updated information about the PIPSC Employee Wellness Support Program (EWSP).  PIPSC signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Treasury Board during our last contract negotiation.  While the new EWSP will no longer support the use of sick leave banks, most members will find the new program very beneficial.  Dale Hudson from our group also serves  on our national NR executive and is part of the negotiating team with TB to establish the specifics for the new plan.  Dale will be providing an update to all attendees and I’d encourage you all to come for his presentation to better understand the changes we will likely see with EWSP.

On a final note. Although we have just concluded our collective agreement, you should also bear in mind that it expires 30 September 2018. To this end, your Sub-Group is a good means to propose amendments to your collective agreement. Looking to the future, our intention is to solicit your feedback and provide a consolidated response to our Bargaining Team as they begin preparing for the exchange of proposals with Treasury Board at some point in the future. More to follow on this, however I hope to get you thinking on the topic of your collective agreement along with the potential changes that you would like to see.
