Rokib Hassan

Dr. M. Rokib Hassan is an Associate Research Officer with the National Research Council of Canada. He is leading the fire materials research at the Fire Safety Research Unit in the Construction Research Center.

Besides research excellence, Dr. Hassan is serving as a voting member of the (i) Canadian Standards Association (CSA) “Fuels and Appliances” Steering Committee; (ii) CSA “Controls & Protective Devices for Gas and/or Oil” Technical Committee; (iii) CSA "Solid Biofuels" Technical Committee; and (iv) Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) "Portable Fuel Containers emissions control national standard" Technical Committee. Besides this, he is currently serving as an editorial advisory board member of the “International Fire Protection Magazine” MDM Publishing (UK). He is also a co-guest editor of an Elsevier journal special issue on “Sustainable Construction Materials: What’s Next”. Earlier from 2019 to 2021, he served as a voting member of the “Nelson Buck Robinson Science and Technology Award” committee at the Materials Research Society in the USA.

Recently, he was selected for the 2023 PIPSC Presidents Achievement Award for his outstanding fire safety research contribution at NRC.
