Any suggestion for visibility items to be purchased should be sent to Andrea. $XXX will be allocated for a movie night. Stan made a motion, Chris seconded.

Professionals Canada: Professionals Canada is an arm’s length association proposed by the Board of Directors that will provide services to contractors in various occupations. These services would include help in writing contracts, health insurance, Service Plus type services etc. Some concerns of members with this organization include perception that we are condoning the use of contractors and precarious work, lack of consultation prior to passing the resolution by the Board to be brought to the PIPSC AGM, cost, no demonstrated risk assessment or fact based cost analysis. Proponents believe that there is a need to support those engaged in non-unionized precarious work.

The new association will be debated at the PIPSC AGM in November.

Review of planning calendar: Dates initially set for upcoming events were reviewed.  Steward Appreciation will be moved to October 11th, location to be determined.

National Election:  Candidate bios are available, share the information and tell members to vote.

Bargaining Update: Strategic bargaining committee meets every 3 months. There is a central bargaining table that will bargain base wage increase, harassment, Family Day and parental leave. The SP group wants a deal faster.

PIPSC AGM:  The AGM will take place Nov 2-3 in Ottawa. Andrea is going for the Branch, Yvonne for the region and Stan for the CS Group. Election results will be announced at the AGM. Professionals Canada will be the biggest issue.

One Year Term: Chris volunteered to take the 1 year position and will be standing for election at the 2019 AGM.
