St. John’s IT Subgroup Executive Meeting Minutes

Present: Christine LeDrew, James Vey, Mike Lester, Sherry Browne, Scott Squires, Craig Butler, Jason Reid, Jeremy Korchoski, Ranvir Rana
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Jeremy Korchoski
Approval of Agenda
James Vey motion to accept, Jason Reid seconded. All in favour, motion carried.
Approval of Minutes
Sherry Browne motion to accept, Scott Squires seconded. All in favour, motion carried.
Finance report – Sherry Brown
Sherry presented out financial status, and we are in good standing.
Christine LeDrew motion to accept report, Scott Squires seconded. All in favour, motion carried.
IT Subgroup Event
Discussion around the struggle to get members engaged. What can we do?
We had success with pool event and bowling previously.
We could request financial assistance from Better together to help pay for events.
Discussion around family events or not. Historically family events have had more turn out.
Christine LeDrew will investigate cost of bowling/family event – Fall 2025.
Future Subgroup meetings
We discussed the timing, costs, and location of subgroup meetings.
There was agreement that we should try to stay within the per diem cost for meetings and economize whenever possible.
New Business
Contract proposal meeting – Christine LeDrew
Christine will present to members before bargaining begins. A virtual 45-minute lunch and learn is the preferred option. We could also see if Rob Scott is available to present as well.
AGM planning – James Vey
We should find a date soon to allow for proper planning.
We will consider September 9th or 16th for the AGM.
We could look at an office site for a lunch time meeting. This could increase the attendance.
We could also find a venue we can rent that would allow us to bring our own food.
Swag Update
We have hats, T-Shirts, and various smaller items available. We can use these for events throughout the year.
