Annual General Meeting (AGM) Minutes

November 6, 2025 6:00 pm

Thandi, Saint John, NB

 

1. Meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM by Jessica Thériault

2. Welcome and Introductions: Jessica welcomed the participants to the meeting. There were a total of 7 members in attendance. Tammy Cornish, Jessica Thériault, Jenna O’Halloran, Melanie Hans, Katherine Leblanc, Christel Seeberger, and Sandra Eldridge

3. Approval of agenda: Moved by Tammy Cornish and seconded by Jenna O’Halloran. Carried.

4. Adoption of the minutes: As this was the first AGM for the Saint John sub-group there were no previous minutes to review.

5. Business arising from the minutes - N/A

6. Report of the president Jessica informed the members that the Saint John sub-group was launched in 2025. There are 17 members and one Rand member. Jessica plans to reach out to the Rand member to advise them of the sub-group. The executives met April 1 for training and in May 2025 the subgroup received their funds. Jessica attended the SH AGM in Gatineau in June.

7. Annual Financial Report: An overview of the financial report was provided by the treasurer, Jenna O’Halloran, including expenditures and current balance.

8. Update from Elections Committee/Election of Officers: Elections process was overseen by Jenna O’Halloran. A call for nominations for vice president took place. Vice president: position was awarded to Tammy Cornish.

9. Guest speaker Selena Glover SH Group Executive Vice President: Selena reviewed the subgroup bylaws. Discussions were hard regarding the last round of bargaining and participants raised concerns about the gap in pay increase between professions with OP being among the lowest. Selena informed participant that Sheena McQuarrie is the union consultation president and encouraged members to consider becoming union stewards because they want to achieve strong stewardship at VAC. Jessica Thériault put their name forward. Other issues brought forward and discussed were use of AI in the workplace, return to office, workforce adjustment, harassment, and modifications to sick leave. Selena informed participants of the SH Group Facebook page and that SH elections are coming up. AGM participants expressed their concerns regarding the bilingual bonus, which has not been updated in many years.

10. Promotional items: Gift cards were purchased and distributed as door prizes with SH subgroup funds. Names where drawn and members received prizes based on names drawn. Prizes where given out by Jessica Theriault.
