Rong (Sunny) Wang

Dear friends and colleagues,

Thank you for your support in the last election. Over the past two years, with the opportunity provided by PIPSC, I have been able to voice member concerns to senior executives. While we have achieved meaningful gains, such as the creation of new joint union-management committees that foster more effective dialogue, the challenges we face are complex and hindered by roadblocks. There is still much work to be done to secure fair wages that reflect the cost of living and protect the value of our professions.

This year, I am running again to represent British Columbia and Yukon NR members. My focus will remain on securing fair wages, supporting return-to-office (RTO) policies that work for members, addressing contracting out, and safeguarding the integrity of the NR professions. Although the next round of collective bargaining expires in September 2026, being an upcoming BC/Yukon representative on the NR Executive will provide a unique opportunity to directly advocate for our members' interests at the bargaining table.

As a young professional with over a decade of experience in public service between DND and DFO, and as a PIPSC steward, I believe fostering a sense of community and building alliances are key to union success. My roles as President of the Victoria Branch and member of the Consultation Team (DND - VP Engineering) provide a more comprehensive perspective on the daily hardships faced by our members.

Thank you for your continued support.

In solidarity,
Rong (Sunny) Wang
