SH Northern Ontario Group - AGM Minutes – November 28, 2022
The AGM was held on November 28th in Thunder Bay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in the Sleeping Giant Room.
We served supper at 6:00 and the meeting ran from 6:30 until 8:30 EST. We had 47 members in person and 3 remotely. Each member received a “swag bag” upon entering the venue.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30, the Executive introduced themselves:
Lois Pelletier - Subgroup President
Lorena Clace - Subgroup Vice President
Jo-Ann Ottley - Secretary/Treasurer
Each member then introduced themselves.
Welcome and Opening from PIPSC Jenn Carr (attended virtually) and Eva Henshaw PIPSC Part-Time VP, who manages the Nursing portfolio.
A video of the Northern Communities visited by President Carr (Fort Hope and Sandy Lake) was shown.
Presentation by the National OSH Representatives: Sylvain Renaud and Jean-Marc Perron. The consensus with the nurses seems to be a disconnect between Occurrence reports getting from the Nursing Stations to the OSH National Office.
Presentation from the SH President Lynn Ohlson re. Bargaining update (in person).
Presentation from LRO Ginette Tardif re: Accessing OCISM, updated Orientation Manual and importance of updating contact information (not work email) so members can be kept updated with new information.
Presentation from Lori Clace PIPSC FNIHB National Consultation President (liberated by PIPSC for 6 months to work on the Northern Nurses portfolio).
We had a question and answer period.
Due to the current nursing shortage, we decided to postpone the voting for an Executive to mid-January 2023. Gifts were presented from the Subgroup to the presenters.
The AGM wrapped up at 8:30.
