SP 4900 Yonge Street Executive Meeting Minutes - September 22, 2022

Date: Thursday September 22, 2022

Time: 11:30 am to 12:30pm

Location: Outdoors

ATTENDEES:

  • Lynn Kumita – President
  • Jeremy Craigs – Vice-President
  • Ben Smith – Treasurer
  1. Due to member concerns regarding COVID-19 and the on-going pandemic, the Executive held the meeting outdoors with take-away lunches
  1. Bargaining Updates:
  • SP Executive members had looked to the PIPSC website to see if position papers on current bargaining had been posted but did not appear to be available yet
    • Last Presidents meeting, it was identified that the Bargaining Team was meeting with Treasury Board (TB) late August/early-September and it was anticipated that the position papers for PIPSC and TB would likely be posted to the PIPSC website around that time
  • SP Executive discussed providing a lunch and learn opportunity for the members regarding the current bargaining cycle – likely end of October/early November. We anticipate a hybrid lunch and learn will likely be provided but unsure about level of interest for an in-person meeting.
    • Ben confirmed that the sub-group allowance has not been touched this year so funds are available to provide refreshments of some sort should an in-person meeting be confirmed.

ACTION: Determine date for lunch and learn and location/venue. SP Executive to poll members to get a better sense of who will be back in the office and when along with comfort levels. Once a date is provided, Lynn will reach out to Enzo to coordinate.

  1. Return to the Office:
  • We discussed/compared “return to the office” plans as members of the Executive represent two different departments (Transport Canada & PSPC)
    • Appears that regionally, both departments are taking on a similar approach, though PSPC has not yet “mandated” a return as previously signed interim work agreements (that included options to work from home 100%) are in place until December 31, 2022
    • Currently, no issues/concerns have been raised to the SP Executive by any of the membership
  1. SP 4900 Yonge Street Executive Changes:
  • Ben let the SP Executive know that he will be resigning his position as Treasurer as he has taken a one-year assignment resulting in him becoming a member of PSAC during that time
  • His last day will be Friday, September 30, 2022
  • Until a new Treasurer can be appointed, Lynn (as President) will hold onto and handle the sub-group finances.

ACTION:  Remaining Executive members will look into the PIPSC by-laws and fill the position accordingly.
