Hello everyone,

We are currently looking for a member of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada to sit on the local Health and Safety committee for 200 Kent St., Ottawa. To join the committee, you must work at the 200 Kent St. location.

Health and Safety committees are a legal requirement under the Canada Labour Code and every department must have one. These committees are made up of management and employee representatives (from each union).

Committee activities include attending regular meetings (nine meetings per year, two hours each) in compliance with Canada Labour Code requirements; participating in inspections; and participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of the DFO’s hazard prevention program.

If you are interested in taking on this role, your management should allow you to do so. Senior management will support us if we need to be involved. Please feel free to contact me at judith.leblanc@dfo-pmo.gc.ca for any questions or to express your interest in the position.
