The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada

Dear WPEG Members,

From December 17 to 19, your bargaining team met with the employer both jointly with WTEG and independently to continue negotiations.

The Union tabled a proposal aimed at improving transparency during the hiring process to ensure fairness in salary decisions. Additionally, discussions began on establishing minimum standards for office space allocated to WPEG members. The Union’s proposal includes provisions for privacy, adequate workspace size, and collaborative areas to support productivity and morale.

One of the most significant discussions centred on vacation leave carry-over provisions. The Union proposed a framework to allow employees to carry over unused vacation credits while responsibly managing any excess leave.

The Union also secured clarification on information requests regarding contractors and representation rights for members. This important step enhances our ability to protect members’ rights and ensures greater fairness and transparency.

While progress was made on several items, significant gaps remain on key issues, including vacation, pay, and overtime provisions. Your bargaining team remains steadfast in representing your interests and advocating for equitable, member-focused outcomes.

We encourage you to remain engaged and share your thoughts with us. Your input and solidarity play a vital role in strengthening our position at the bargaining table.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

In solidarity,
WPEG Bargaining Team
