Prize Draws for guests at SP Vancouver Sub-Group Executive meetings

The last prize draw was quite popular and provided guests with the latest PIPSC news and updates, as well as insight into how the team operates. We’ll be collecting a list of sub-group members interested in attending future executive meetings and conducting draws throughout the year, starting with the upcoming meeting on April 13 in downtown Vancouver.

Details

  • The winner(s) will be invited to attend an upcoming sub-group executive meeting
  • The list of interested members will be kept for future draws
  • The winner will be allowed to choose another PIPSC SP member to bring, and both will be entitled to reimbursement of expenses (such as mileage/transit, parking, dinner)
  • The next executive meeting will take place at the Old Spaghetti Factory on April 13, 2026 starting at 5:30 PM
  • Attendees are encouraged to provide feedback and insights on future sub-group events
  • Please note that the venue varies each meeting, we try to alternate between Vancouver and Burnaby

New executive members

I’m pleased to welcome 2 new members to our sub-group executive team as Members-at-Large, Helen Lu and Hugo Wong from Health Canada. Both of them had won the prize draw that was part of the renaming survey, and attended the February 23 executive meeting.

Planning Lunch and Learns and engagement events take significant effort, and we’re always thankful for folks willing to step up and volunteer their time to pitch in. If there are others interested in helping out, either by passing around the latest union information at their office or helping organize future events, please reach out to me.

Event Recap: Lunch and learn and after-work mixer with Bryan Van Wilgenburg

Both events were well-received and attended. Bryan’s presentation and subsequent Q&A are partially recorded and available to anyone with a PIPSC email on Google Drive. It covered topics including SP bargaining, WFA, and RTO. Our Lunar New Year themed mixer at Heritage Asian Eatery was a blast with a scrumptious spread of food and drinks.
