6    PIPSC & SP Group Initiatives-update:

  • SP Bargaining update: Waheed said that TBS has up to August 15 to implement the SP CA, after which PIPSC will be in a position to file a policy grievance, if retroactive pay has not been paid. Exec expressed concern over pay issues related to Phoenix. Several members were filing grievances.

  • PIPSC AGM will take place on November 17-18. SP-NCR will support the Executive to attend as delegates or observers. Sushil and Norma will attend as SP Group delegates. Waheed will attend as Gatineau Branch delegate. Exec members who cannot attend as Delegates due to limits imposed by PIPSC rules are supported to attend as observers.

7    2017 Action Plan: All

  • Arrangements for SP-NCR Canada 150 networking Boat Cruise to be held on August 15 are well underway. It will provide opportunities to its members to network and get involved in union activities, after the longest bargaining session. Some members have promised to pay for their tickets upon arrival. While this poses some risk of some members not showing up, the Exec decided to risk manage and relax the cut-off date.
  • SP Tunney’s Pasture SG Exec expressed interest to join, and have been invited accordingly on cost sharing basis. It is good for professional networking, solidarity and Better Together!
  • Movie: Joanne is exploring options for a movie for SP-NCR members in the fall in Gatineau and Ottawa, and will share proposals with Exec.
  • Promotional Material: Shamil acquired promotional material for SP-NCR members, and provided some stock to the Exec, to promote visibility in their workplaces.
  • Science Advisory Committee: Norma provided an update on the work of the Science Advisory panel.

8    Roundtable:
