SH Subgroup Executive Meeting March 1, 2023

Called to order at 6:00pm

 

Old Business: 

1.  Addendum to minutes of December 5, 2022: be it reflected that a discussion and decision via email on Nov 21, 2022 between Lauralee Mullins and Scott McConaghy resulted in the appointment of Glen Boorman and Denise Stymiest-Burns as Members At Large.

 

New Business:

1. Volunteer activities: Discussion regarding various options for Executive or entire SH membership to participate in community activities. It was proposed and agreed that 2-4 Executive members at one time could volunteer at the Community Kitchen. There is a need for assistance with dinner preparations weekdays from 4:00-6:00pm.  Janet Weber will obtain the kitchen's May volunteer schedule and disseminate to other Executive members.

 

2. Up-coming AGM planning. Lauralee proposed scheduling the AGM to coincide with Lyne Ohlsen's visit in June. Group consensus. Lauralee will invite Lyne. Amberley will investigate venues. Three locations proposed: St James Gate, Rustico, and Gahan House.

 

3. Discussion on SH bargaining; possible addition of two family days. Group discussion on the need for a reduction of years employed before earning an additional week of vacation. Currently new employees are granted three weeks, and then required to wait for their sixteenth year to earn the additional week of vacation.

 

Round Table

1. Lauralee discussed language adjustments within central bargaining that could impact membership.

 

2. Amberley raised issues of return to work and safety concerns with public's unrestricted access to office spaces.
