Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, November 23, 2022

Agenda Items	Discussion/Action
#1 Call to order	Jidong called the meeting to order at Noon. Including the executive 12 members attended the in person meeting.
#2 Approval of the Agenda	Agenda was presented and accepted. (Motion – James; Second - Amjad).
#3 Adoption of the Minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting	Copy of the minutes of the 2020 Annual General Meeting was sent previously to all invitees. The members reviewed the content and approved the minutes as presented. (Motion - Kumar; Second - Babak).
#4 Business Arising from the Minutes	New recruitment is under progress; already one RES and one PDF has been recruited; and another RES selection process is underway.
#5 Report of the President	Jidong presented the ‘President Report’. This includes events conducted in 2020-2022, Stewarts council, his participation on CMAT committees on Return to Workplace and RES recruitment planning. Report is included
#6 Annual Financial Report	Kumar reported the Annual Financial Report 2020-2021, 2021-2022; This includes all expenses of all subgroup activities and the financial status of the Sub-group bank account. Members approved the report as submitted. (Motion - Jidong, Second - Amjad).
# 7 Approval of Budget	Kumar also distributed the hard copies of Proposed Budget for the year 2022-2023 and discussed the details. After discussion, all attendees approved the plan, with three events. (Motion - James, Second - All).
#8 Election Officer Report (Xin Pang)	Amjad Javaid informed that he does not wish to continue in the committee. Nomination for three positions were sought; Jidong Kang, Kumar Sadayappan and Babak Shalchi Amirkhiz names were proposed and they were elected by members.

President Report for Annual General Meeting (AGM) of CANMET Hamilton RE Sub-Group

12-1 pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2022

CANMET Hamilton RE Sub-Group currently has 23 members. Some of the key activities of our RE Sub-Group are as follows:

CANMET Hamilton RE Sub-Group executive had three regular meetings after its AGM on October 21, 2020. The minutes of these meetings were submitted to PIPSC.

Due to the pandemic, all in-person union meetings were suspended as per PIPSC policy. A $200 donation was made to local food bank by the Executive Committee under the name of our subgroup.

Jidong and Kumar joined NRCan RES promotion process modernization and harmonization Working Group as CMAT/PIPSC Local representatives in 2020/21.

Jidong Kang attended Ontario Steward Council Annual Meeting held on September 17, 2021 (on-line), PIPSC AGM on November 5, 2021 (on-line), and Ontario Steward Council Annual Meeting (in-person) on September 9-10, 2022. Key messages from these meetings were communicated with members via emails.

Jidong Kang remained as a member of CMAT Return to Workplace Committee representing PIPSC local.

The CANMET Hamilton RE Sub-Group executive committee members thank all of you for your support and look forward to your continued participation in our future activities.

Election process

On the AGM of RE Canmet Hamilton Sub-Group held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022 at Meeting Room 2, McMaster Innovation Park, 175 Longwood Road south, Hamilton during12:00 – 13:00 PM, the election officer announced the call for nomination. Jidong Kang, Kumar Sadayappan, and Babak Shalchi Amirkhiz were nominated. There were no other candidates nominated before the AGM and on the floor. The election officer acclaimed Jidong Kang, Kumar Sadayappan, and Babak Shalchi Amirkhiz elected as executive committee members.
