Dear members,

Since the beginning of 2022, your bargaining team has been working hard to develop our demand package, translating your input into actions. From March 2023, your RO-RCO Group Bargaining Team has met the NRC management representatives six times at the bargaining table to get you the best collective agreement possible.

I am pleased to share with you that we now have a signed tentative agreement.

We are happy and proud to report that we made some great strides in improving your working conditions.

Here are some highlights of our major gains:

  • 12.5% increase in pay over 4 years
  • $2,500 signing bonus
  • For the first time, a Letter of Understanding giving employees stronger protections and rights around remote work
  • Establishment of a new “Leave without pay (LWOP) for Research and Innovation” Policy
  • Progress with Double-Bar issues
  • Timely approval for conference attendance requests
  • Removal of « core hours » language for employees on 1950h
  • Establishment of a committee to investigate equity in operational research funding

Full details of the agreement will be provided in a ratification package, which, once translated, will be posted to our group page and emailed to you. We will also host information sessions to discuss the details of this tentative agreement and answer any questions you might have. Then it turns to you to vote on whether to accept this deal.

Your bargaining team unanimously recommends voting YES to the deal. The finish line is finally in sight, and we need your support and solidarity to carry us across it.

Please keep an eye on your email for updates and next steps!

In solidarity,
Simon Drouin,
For the NRC-RO/RCO Bargaining Team
