Since our last update, the Pay Equity Committee has continued to make steady progress toward finalizing the National Research Council’s Pay Equity Plan.
Over the past several months, the committee completed its detailed review of compensation elements and confirmed the data required to move into the compensation calculation phase. This work builds on the earlier completion of the core assessment stages of the pay equity process, including job evaluation, confirmation of gender predominance, and validation of job classes.
The committee is now focused on gap analysis — the stage where differences in compensation for female-dominated job classes are identified, quantified, and assessed. With the support of technical advisors, committee members are working through the methodology that will be used to calculate wage gaps and ensure that outcomes accurately reflect the full value of work performed across job classes.
Throughout this phase, employee representatives remain engaged and vigilant. We continue to examine assumptions, test calculations, and seek clarity on any issues that could affect pay equity outcomes. Members can be assured that progress is being closely monitored and that further updates will be shared as the work advances and concrete results become available.
