CS Vote 2019 - Patricia Williams

Patricia Williams - Résumé - for Member-at-Large

I have been a proud CS member since 1999 when I began my career in the government working for the Department of Defence in Trenton. A few years later I moved to Ottawa and began working for the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). Like many people I was busy with my career but started to become involved with the Union due to friends involvement. I began by attending group and branch events and soon after the National Annual General Meetings (AGMs). As my involvement grew, so did my knowledge and questions. I was fortunate and had many helping hands from other stewards and PIPSC HQ. As opportunities and positions became available I decided to get more involved and it has been very fulfilling.

For the past 12 years these are the positions I have held:

PIPSC Union Steward

AFS Executive (CRA) - Secretary / Member

Ottawa South Branch (OSB) – Treasurer / Secretary / Member

Ottawa West Branch (OWB) – Treasurer / Secretary / Member

OE CS Subgroup - Member

NCR Executive – Current Member for the last 5 years

Ottawa East Branch (OEB) – Current President for the last 4 years

CBSA Consultation President - Current and for the last 2 years

I believe with my long CS career and broad Union experiences that I would be of great benefit to the membership on the CS Executive. I have worked at DND, CRA and CBSA which are three of the biggest departments/agencies and served on a multitude of branch executives.

I have organized successful events for groups as large as 600 people. My work as a steward started in 2007 and continues to be important to me. Daily, I provide fact based knowledge and resources to members to help and support them in the workplace so they are empowered to make decisions.

I would appreciate another opportunity to serve our membership by being nominated to this position on the executive. My endless energy, creativity, listening, organizational and communication skills will be of great benefit to the planning of future events and support of our members.

Thank-you for your consideration,

Patricia
