PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  

• Presentation: 90 minutes (50 minutes of education, 30 min interactive Q&A) 

• Individualized content and design:  

1. pre-event survey (SurveyMonkey) to collect Q&A topics (anonymous)

2. pre-event 30-minute meeting with organizers to clarify objectives and direct customizable components (informed by Q&A results)

3. pre-event handout of general screening and risk assessment tools, for individualized learning experience

4. post-event list of resources for further education

5. post-event survey (SurveyMonkey) for feedback to managers on usefulness/future topics 

PROJECT OBJECTIVES: 

  • Education & Awareness session for PIPSC Members: 
  • women’s health education on physiology of menopause and symptoms
  • address misconceptions about midlife health 
  • provide helpful information for family members/ co-workers 
  • information on lifestyle and treatment options to optimize health and wellness in midlife
  • evidence based advice on improving future health and aging well

BIO:  

Dr. Ardelle Piper completed a BSc(H) in Biology and Medical Degree (MD) in British Columbia, then pursued specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Saskatoon, SK. After a Masters of Education (M.Ed), she completed a year of Menopause fellowship at The Shirley E.  Greenberg Women's Health Centre in Ottawa. Her practice is now exclusively midlife women’s health and patient education, focusing on menopause, cancer survivorship, and preventive health. She provides virtual consultation to clients across Ontario and is frequently a guest speaker as a subject matter expert at educational events and conferences. 

To keep current with medical knowledge and best practice. Dr Piper is a professional member of national and international women's health societies: the North American Menopause Society (NAMS); the Canadian Menopause Society (CMS); the Australasian Menopause Society (AMS);
