Your VM Group Executive recognizes that the current shortage of veterinarians is causing our members to become overburdened and exhausted. In concert with CFIA, we are looking at the duties performed by our veterinarians to ensure that only veterinary duties are performed by veterinarians, and non-veterinary duties should be delegated to non-veterinary positions.
CFIA has also engaged us in discussions regarding veterinary recruitment and assistance for foreign-trained veterinarians to obtain their National Examination Board (NEB) Certification of Qualification.
While we are likely to agree in principle with some of the ideas that we may be presented with, rest assured that if faced with issues of concern will work hard to defend the professionalism of our work in CFIA, including maintaining the current high standards of occupational certification.
