President’s Message

Hello Colleagues,

I would like to take this moment and clarify a statement I wrote to you a few days ago in my President’s Message “AV Elections Results”, dated June 20, 2018.

Some of you, and a very small number of you I might add, unfortunately, have been mis-lead by other members, thereby creating this misunderstanding.

Here is the statement, and I quote “Furthermore, to make sure the CO 1, CO 3, CO 4, along with the PG 5 and PG 6, achieve higher raises in this round of bargaining in order to make up for the shortfall from the last round.”

Some of you took this statement to mean that the CO2 classification employees will not get any salary increases, will not be fully represented, and be “excluded” in this round of collective bargaining.

Let me be clear and put to rest any misunderstanding. This thought of being “excluded” is totally false and furthest from the truth.

To clarify, the “shortfall” I am referring to is the fact that in the last round of bargaining the CO2’s received 7% over 4 years, and the CO1, CO3 and CO4 received only 5% over 4 years.

The “shortfall” was 2% (7% - 5%)

And for the PG5 and PG6, they received 6% over 4 years, whereas the PG1-PG4 received 7.25%.

The “shortfall” was 1.25%. (7.25% - 6%)

This is the “shortfall” we are attempting to make up for through this round of collective bargaining. In no way does this impact the CO2 or PG5 and PG6 in negotiations going forward.

I can assure you that all members, in this round, will be achieving the same % increase, similar to other classification Groups in the last round. For example, AFS Group received the same increase % for all their members, and same for CS Group, to name a few.

Additionally, we will be negotiating market adjustments to all classifications and levels to increase our salaries for all members, to get wage parity with same classification members in other collective agreements and with other employer’s.

No one shall be left behind and be “excluded”.

This is our goal of the current bargaining team.

Thank you for your time.

Better Together!
