2021 CP Election_Natalia Kim

I would like to nominate myself for the “Member at Large” position for the CP group. With my aspiring PIPSC career, I will bring cultural diversity along with my variety of life experiences to the group. I am of Korean descent born in Russia, raised in Uzbekistan and immigrated to Canada in 1999. I have first-hand experience with the challenges of professional development while being a visible minority. I’ve had to reestablish myself from the ground up. I am now a professional working mother of 3, learning a new language in a new country, helping and mentoring others along the way. I believe that my diverse life experience has positioned me to understand and relate to all members while proving my drive to succeed in my pursuits. Apart from taking on any assigned duties, I would like to focus on the work-life balance and promotion of good health to our members. I want to advocate for work-life balance supports and better working environments and help members cope with the mental and physical breakdowns that have had a direct impact on their professional development. With my positive attitude, reasonableness and desire for transparency, I am easy to work with and can ensure productivity. PIPSC has helped me overcome challenges and I welcome the opportunity to take on this important role where I can make a larger impact. These are some of my PIPSC experiences:

PIPSC Steward assisting with grievances, mediation, steward recruitment and mentoring events since 2014

CP National Executive 2020

CP Sub Group Executive 2017

DND NCR Branch Executive 2015 and VP 2019

Organized member engagement events at branch and subgroup level since 2015, and for the NCR Human Rights Committee in 2016-2017

Thank you for the opportunity and I hope that I can work in serving our group members.
