2021 CP Election_Jason Arsenault

Dear Colleagues, 

After much contemplation, strong urging from my PIPSC peers, being a member of the Vancouver Sub Group, the Labour Management Consultation Committee (LMCC), and a steward, I respectfully ask for your vote to elect me as your Regional Representative.  

In my diverse role, I met and listened to members, presented their concerns to management and obtained positive results through grievances. 

Supported Group members in my organization nationally by reaching out to determine needs/concerns for resolution with management. 

During the pandemic, utilized effective virtual tools to reach-out/update the dispersed members. 

Goals 

  • To facilitate a new Subgroup in Whitehorse, revitalize the North Vancouver Island Subgroup inactive due to retirements. 
  • Encourage use of virtual tools, to allow virtual Subgroup formation at small and/or remote work sites. 
  • Facilitate region-wide virtual Lunch-n-Learns with experts from NCR to share collective-bargaining/labour-related information, etc. 
  • Seek your support because I want to represent member issues on the collective-bargaining team.
  • Seek member engagement in recently created Group Advisory Committee, by reaching-out to remotely located members and those in smaller departments. 
  • Bring to the attention of National Joint Committee table need for improvements of health and dental benefits, increase annual limits, etc. 
  • Encourage participation of young professionals and BIPOC.
  • Support and assist transition to post COVID-19 work reality. 
  • Work-life balance including full-time remote work. 
  • PIPSC membership dues freeze.

Experience & Activities 

  • Federal Public Servant for 15 years at Statistics Canada, HRSDC (now ESDC) and ISED. 
  • CP Vancouver Subgroup Member-At-Large (2020 to present) 
  • PIPSC representative to the OSB LMCC (2020 to present) 
  • PIPSC representative to the ISED National Consultation Team (2020 to present)
  • Steward BC/Yukon Region (2020 to present) 
  • Grievances including EMPA, staffing, employee benefit claw back.
