Simon Drouin - NRC-RO/RCO
Simon Drouin, PhD, DESS, has been leading the NRC-TSH Research Centre’s Applied Genomics team for the past two years. Dr. Drouin supervised the development and implementation of CRISPR/Case, gene editing technologies, single cell sequencing and innovative bioinformatics approaches, always keeping in view the impact these projects could have on patients.
Dr. Drouin is a key player in the NRC-TSH’s Disruptive Technology Solutions for the Cell and Gene Therapy Challenge program. He is also the scientific authority for the NRC-CHU Sainte-Justine Collaborative Unit for Translational Research, which combines the expertise from both institutions to accelerate the transfer of technological discoveries to the clinic.
Dr. Drouin strongly believes that high productivity can only be achieved through the employees’ personal and professional development, in addition to engaging them in a clear and inspiring vision.
Dr. Drouin is an excellent communicator. He strives to inform his team and collaborators about the project’s objectives and future goals he is responsible for, and fosters healthy debate and constructive criticism to create a culture where everyone’s contribution is valued and appreciated.
