Robert B. Scott
It has been my pleasure and privilege to serve on the IT Group National Executive as a member at large for 5 terms. Over this time, I have taken on various responsibilities including the roles of Membership Officer, Subgroup Officer and Bargaining Team member. When PIPSC formed its first ever Central Table Bargaining Team, I was selected as the IT Group representative, and the Central Table team then elected me as their Chair. In our most recent round of IT negotiations, I served as Bargaining Officer, leading the bargaining team in a successful fight for pay parity and the protection of the contracting out language in Article 30 of our contract. Earning the respect and confidence of the IT Group, I have since been reaffirmed as Bargaining Officer for the next round.
I would like, again, to ask for your support – this time, for election as President of this proud group of IT professionals. Here I plan to continue the important work that our team performs every day and to lead the group forward to face new challenges – all with a fresh, new perspective. As a proud public servant, I believe that my experience, patience, and perseverance will serve this group well.
Experience:
Bargaining Officer – IT Group (2021 – Present)
Bargaining Coordinator & IT Representative – PIPSC Central Negotiations Table (2018-2020)
Member-at-large - IT Group National Executive (15 years)
Member – IT Group Bargaining Team (5 rounds)
Founding President of Saskatoon & Prince Albert IT Subgroup
Vice President Saskatoon Branch (2006 – present)
Regional Consultation President for CSC (2015-Present)
Member – Local & Regional Occupational Health & Safety Committees
Recipient of an Institute Service Award and Citation for my contribution to the Central Table (2021)
Steward (2000 – present)
There are particularly challenging times ahead of us. With contracting out, cost of living increases, return to the office, and a difficult bargaining climate all standing before us, I shall push forward with determination, integrity, and respect to fight for the best interests of IT members. I’ll continue to mobilize and raise awareness within our ranks. Our hard work will continue with the momentum that we have built over the past years.
Over the next term, as President, my priorities will include:
Negotiation of a fair and competitive contract
Fight against the one-size-fits-all approach for Return to Workplaces and advocate for a
presence-with-purpose approach
Prepare for a potential change of government which could be hostile toward the public service
Keep up the pressure in our fight against contracting out
Make the best use of our IT Training Fund to serve our members best
Engage and work together with members, activists, board members, groups, regions, and staff
Thank you for demonstrating your engagement and solidarity by participating in this election. I will endeavor to follow your direction in leading our group forward to take on all challenges that we face together.
I would greatly appreciate your continued support.
Yours, in solidarity,
Robert Scott
