Northern NB Branch Executive meeting- October 12/22

At Boston Pizza at 1730h

In attendance : Gilles Comeau, Jolene Underhill, Laura Kidd

Gilles welcomed Laura to the executive and thanked her for volunteering to temporarily  fill one of the empty positions as a result of 3 members retiring.

Brief description given on PIPSC structure including the role of branches and regions vs subgroups and groups.

Branch provides education and social activities.

3 main goals for the fall: 1. Chose a date for the AGM,

                                            2. Chose a branch activity

                                            3. Chose a educational session/activity

AGM proposed for spring 2023, May or June.  Will discuss further at next meeting

Various past branch activities were discussed ie; boat cruise, hockey game, visit to maple syrup farm.  Will discuss with members and discuss further at next meeting

Consensus that a session explaining the role and function of PIPSC would be the most useful education session as there are a number of new members that could benefit from this topic.  There will be an English session in Miramichi and a French session in Bathurst.  Details to be determined at a future meeting.

Discussion on how to reach members as the area covered is vast and many new members over the last couple of years.  Also many members working from home. Question asked if new members are advised by the union what region/branch they belong to or if the branch gets a list of new members.  Gilles did receive a list of members in June from member services.  When events are planned such as the AGM, an email is sent to all members of the branch from mother PIPSC.

Plan: 1. Next meeting Nov 9 or 10, will decide exact details closer to date

          2. Will canvas members re interest in sitting on executive until next AGM to fill holes

          3. Decide on activity, AGM date and education session next meeting

Meeting completed at 1930
